According to our recently concluded poll on “New IIT Selection Process”; 65% users are against the idea of considering board exam marks for selection process at IITs. The poll question asked on careermitra.com was “Should board exam marks be given weightage in IIT selection process?” ; 1000 responses have been recorded.
647 (65%) answered NO to New Selection procedure at IITs
353 (35%) answered YES to New Selection procedure at IITs
The IIT selection process is already finalized, there will be two tests instead of AIEEE & IITJEE that will be JEE Main & JEE Advanced; it hasn’t really made a big difference. The key difference is in the inclusion of board exam marks, NITs will consider 40% weightage to board exam marks and 60% weightage to JEE Main; there won’t be JEE Advanced for NIT selection process. For IITs, JEE Main, Top 20 percentilers (around 150,000 of them) will sit for JEE Advanced and the final selection will be based on JEE Advanced.
Critics are of the opinion that normalizing board exam marks is a difficult task, deciding board exam cutoffs will be a last minute affair and draws more confusion than benefits. Share your views!
