No NEET UG in Tamil Nadu, MBBS & BDS Admissions through Class 12 Marks

The government of Tamil Nadu is clear on it’s stance, the state will not abolish it’s old system. Tamil Nadu uses only class 12 marks as admission eligibility for MBBS & BDS courses, there is no CET. For the year 2013 too there will not be any change reports Times of India. Though NEET UG is announced as a single entrance exam for all private and government medical college admissions, Tamil Nadu is sailing the other way.

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has however not granted any exemption to any state, students of Tamil Nadu must ensure to apply for NEET UG to be held on 05 May 2013 to be on the safer side. The application forms for NEET UG 2013 are available online, the last date for submitting the completed application form without late fee is 31-12-2012.

The MCI is keen to conduct the NEET-UG in all states including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. These two states filed cases against the NEETs in their respective High Courts and have got interim stays. The MCI has approached the SC to vacate all interim stay orders granted by various State High Courts and to give the authority to hold the NEETs . The matter is likely to be taken finally by the SC on 15,16,17 January,2013. The final Verdict is expected to be delivered by the SC in the third week of January,2013. As per the final Verdict of SC, if the NEET is implemented, no states including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh will be granted exemption from the NEETs. So, it is better for Students of Tamil Nadu to apply for NEET- UG to be held on 05 May, 2013 to be on the safer side.

Thnq Mr.R G Nath ji. I’m from andhrapradesh. I’m very much intrested to do my ug in tamilnadu. In my NEET form i already hav chosen tamilnadu as one of my options. what would be my situation if TamilNadu gets exemption from NEET by SC ? Am I going to loose one of my options if d exemption is given to TamilNadu? or else . are there any other exams to secure mbbs seat in tamilnadu?

Dear Mr. Adam, First of all to be considered for MBBS admission in Tamil Nadu you should be a resident of Tamil Nadu. If not you need to provide a nativity certificate to that effect. Always there is an option of private medical colleges who are ready to admit anyone who can pay a hefty donation and exorbitant tuition fees which is not affordable by common people.
